ABOUT SCHOOL SWIMMING LESSONS
Horizon Leisure Centres are not offering pool hire or swimming lessons for schools at present. We hope to bring them back as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so in line with Government and Public Health England guidelines.
Horizon Leisure Centres offer pool hire and swimming lessons for schools at both Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres.
The minimum requirements in the curriculum for school swimming is that schools must provide swimming instruction in either KS1 or KS2. In particular, pupils should be taught to
- Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- Use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke)
- Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
The swimming lessons for schools are all taught by qualified swimming teachers and help children to meet basic swimming requirements and develop swimming techniques for those that have already met this.
If your school has specific requirements that you are looking for children to meet please discuss these with Horizon Swim School who can offer tailored packages to meet your needs.
At both Leisure Centres there is ample parking for both mini buses. At Waterlooville there is a coach parking bay available. The Parking at Havant Leisure Centre is owned by Havant Borough Council.
School swimming at both Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres is extremely popular and must be booked well in advance of the term to secure your place.
