Waterlooville Gym is a modern, naturally-lit, 3-storey air-conditioned gym that opened in June 2015 and won ‘Gym of the Year’ in both 2016 & 2019 The fantastic gym contains over 120 state-of-the-art work stations, weight resistance, free-weight equipment and functional training frame.


Waterlooville gym offers some of the best value for money exercise facilities available in the area. Staffed by fully qualified friendly gym instructors, who will offer you great advice and motivation to help you achieve your exercise goals.

Horizon has a commitment to continuous improvements and last year saw new additional equipment being added. Waterlooville gym now has a vast range of machines including treadmills, cross trainers, steppers, summit trainers, flex-striders, rowers, spinning bikes, stationary bicycles, rowers and exciting new Power Mills.

Waterlooville gym has resistance equipment caters for every muscle group in the body and comprises a great selection of free-weight machines and weights alongside a functional training area.

The majority of the of fitness machines (to exercise you heart and lungs and burn calories) are supplied by Life Fitness the UK’s premium supplier of exercise machines.

Lockers available in the gym are secured with a personal padlock. You can bring your own or padlocks can be purchased from reception for £2.70.

Please be aware that there is a height restricting barrier (approximately 2 metres) on the car park at Waterlooville Leisure Centre.


You can use the gym as either a Platinum Member or as a pay-as-you-go user.

Please note that both Platinum Members and Pay-as-you-go users will need to pre-book their gyms sessions via the Horizon App, our website or by calling the centre. Platinum members will be able to pre-book gym sessions 7 days in advance and pay-as-you-go users two days in advance

A member ID (different from the number showing on your card) and PIN will be required when booking gym sessions. Members can get their membership ID and PIN by emailing us at info@horizonlc.com. Non-members should call us so we can register you for free over the phone and provide you with some booking ID.

The Platinum Membership price includes the use of both Waterlooville and Havant gyms, the use of both Waterlooville and Havant* swimming pools and the use of over 120+ exercise classes at Waterlooville and Havant. To find out more about becoming a member please visit our Membership Page or to book a tour please fill out the Membership enquiry form at the bottom of the page.

*Covid-19 restrictions. The pool at Havant will not be available in the first phase of reopening

All gym users must have completed a gym induction (at either Havant or Waterlooville) before starting to use the gym. These can be booked by calling the gym directly.

What to expect -the gym

All of the equipment in the gym has been re-arranged to enable safe distancing. To manage a safe capacity at any time members will now have to pre-book their sessions at the gym. 1 hour sessions can be booked via the website or Horizon app and staff will conduct cleaning and sanitising of gym equipment in between sessions.

Please note there is no restriction to the number of gym sessions you may book and there is nothing to stop you booking consecutive sessions. Just be aware you will need to take a fresh air breather in between sessions whilst we conduct a quick clean.

In addition Gym members should please familiarise themselves with the following new protocols:

- Please be aware that upon entering Horizon Leisure Centres the wearing of face masks is mandatory until you reach the activity you have come for. You do not have to wear a face mask whilst you are exercising. consuming food/drink or if you have an age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering.

- You should arrive ‘training ready’ as our changing rooms and showers will not be available

- Please do not bring your own towel! We will provide paper towels that can be used and then safely disposed of within the gym

- You will need to bring your own water as our water fountains will be out of action

- Please use the sanitiser station upon entering the gym and then sanitise your hands regularly as you work-out

- Gym users will be expected to wipe down gym equipment before and after use with the sanitiser spray provided.

- Everyone will be expected to observe social distancing guidelines. We encourage you to exercise with ‘lighter weight-loads’ as close proximity ‘pair-training’ or ‘spotting’ in the free weights area will not be allowed.

- When using the gym, personal belongings can be secured in the internal gym lockers. However, we advise that you bring the absolute minimum required to complete your workout.

- All gym users must leave promptly at the end of their booked session so that we may clean all workout areas in preparation for the next session.

Gym etiquette

• An induction must be completed by all customers before using the gym.
• Please speak to a member of the gym team for any further training advice including use of gym machines.
• Mobile phones can be used with consideration of others in the gym.
• All bags and clothing are to be put into the lockers provided.
• All gym users must wear appropriate clothing and footwear (no jeans, flip flops or bare feet).
• Please wipe down the machines after use with the disinfectant and paper towels provided.
• Return all free weights and bars to their racks after use.
• Do not drop weights - if you can’t put them down they are too heavy.
• No chalk to be used in the gym - only liquid chalk is acceptable.
• No bad language.

Membership cancellations and change of details (over 18+)

Harlands manage our Platinum Memberships and Swim Card Direct Debits for anyone over 18. To update your account details, freeze or cancel you will need to contact them on the details below:

If you are under 18 and have a Platinum Membership or Swim Card Direct Debit to update account details, freeze or cancel please email membership@horizonlc.com stating you have an under 18 Membership at the top of the email and your request will be dealt with by the in-house team.

You can request for to fill out a form to change your account details, freeze or cancel at reception. Please state you are under 18 to the receptionist.
