Family Fun Open Day at Horizon Havant 

Saturday 25th October was a day to remember as we opened our doors for our Free Family Fun Open Day at Horizon Havant. Families from across the community joined us for an action-packed day of activities, laughter, and energy, all completely free.

The event celebrated everything Horizon stands for: family, fitness, and community. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to explore the centre, try new activities, and see what’s on offer throughout the year.

A Day Full of Smiles and Activity

From the moment doors opened at 10am, the centre was buzzing with excitement. The day began with a dedicated Soft Play session for our SEN families, ensuring that children with additional needs could enjoy a calm and welcoming start to the fun. It was a lovely way to make sure everyone could join in and feel part of the event.

Afterwards, the energy continued to build as families made their way to the AirXtreme inflatable, where our brand-new four-court setup proved to be one of the day’s biggest hits. The Soft Play remained popular throughout the day, with little ones laughing, climbing, and exploring.

Families also got active with THRIVE taster sessions, including lively games of UV Dodgeball and Scooter Club, which gave children the chance to experience the energy of our THRIVE programme in a fun, creative way.

Our party rooms were open for tours, complete with cake tasters, party bags, and exclusive offers for anyone planning their next celebration at Horizon. It was wonderful to see families discovering what makes our party packages so special.

Active8 Minds: Fun for Every Family

One of our Family fun day’s biggest highlights was the Active8 Minds sessions, which ran throughout the event and were a huge hit with children and parents alike. Known for their energetic, creative approach to getting kids moving, Active8 Minds brought their trademark enthusiasm and fun to the day with a range of free activities.

Active8 Minds regularly run sessions across our Horizon centres, helping children build confidence, develop new skills, and stay active in a friendly, inclusive environment. A Special Moment for Our Community

At midday, we gathered in the sports hall for a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Havant. The moment marked the official opening of our new AirXtreme inflatable and celebrated Horizon’s ongoing commitment to supporting family fun and bringing the community together through fun, inclusive activity.

Throughout the day, our main corridor was lined with stalls and displays from Horizon programmes and local partners. Visitors could chat with representatives from Hampshire Healthy Families, Karate, Active8 Minds, THRIVE, Swim School, the Crèche, and our Events and Sales teams. Each brought something unique to the day, helping families learn more about the services and opportunities available across our centres.

Family Events for Everyone

Events like this remind us why Horizon is more than just a leisure centre. We are a place where families connect, children grow in confidence, and people of all ages can enjoy being active together.
