Men’s Health Week: 9th – 15th June 2025

Men’s Health Week, observed annually in the week leading up to Father’s Day, runs this year from 9th to 15th June. It’s a national campaign led by the Men’s Health Forum to bring attention to men’s unique health challenges and encourage proactive management of both physical and mental wellbeing. With men at higher risk of premature death, one in five dies before age 65, and mental health issues often left unspoken, the importance of this initiative cannot be overstated.

Why Men’s Health Week Matters

Men traditionally delay seeking help and are less likely to discuss mental health. As a result, men account for four in five suicides and often avoid health check ups until issues become serious. The week’s focus is about disrupting this pattern, encouraging openness and promoting a balanced approach to health that includes nutrition, exercise, emotional wellbeing, and routine screening.

How We Can Support You

At Horizon, we are marking this week by putting a focus on a range of activities aimed at supporting men in our community. Join us to explore, engage, and invest in your long term health.

Men’s Only Yoga at Horizon Guildford

Join our Men’s Only Yoga class in Guildford, a welcoming space designed for men at any fitness level. Guided by a trained instructor, this session improves flexibility, supports stress reduction, and promotes mental clarity – all within a supportive male only environment.

Men’s Circuits at the Wellbeing Hub

Our Men’s Circuits classes offer high energy workouts that blend cardiovascular, strength, and mobility exercises. Delivered in a men focused group, these sessions promote physical fitness while encouraging a sense of community and shared motivation.

Free Health Checks and Blood Pressure Monitoring

Visit our Wellbeing Hub for free health checks, including BMI and blood pressure screenings. Early detection of high blood pressure or other health markers can lead to more effective treatment and prevention, yet many men don’t access these services regularly. Our Blood Pressure check service also links to local GP’s, sending your results directly.

One to One Gym Introductions for New Members

New to the gym? Our 1 to 1 gym introduction sessions provide personalised guidance, helping you learn equipment use and workout fundamentals. These bespoke sessions help boost confidence and form the foundation for consistent, effective training. This is important to help break the barriers of finding the gym intimidating and becoming confident in making it a part of a routine and living a healthier lifestyle.
