Movember at Horizon: Raising Awareness for Men’s Health

Movember at Horizon

Every November, the famous moustache makes its return. It is more than a style statement, it is a symbol of something bigger. Movember is an annual campaign that raises awareness and funds for men’s health, focusing on issues such as mental wellbeing, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. This is especially significant for us during Movember at Horizon.

Across the world, people take part by growing moustaches, getting active, and starting conversations that can make a real difference. Here at Horizon, we are proud to support Movember by shining a light on men’s health and encouraging everyone to stay active for both body and mind. Movember at Horizon is a time for us to unite for this important cause.

What Movember Means to Horizon

For us, Movember is about more than fundraising. It is about connection, conversation, and community. Every day, we see how physical activity can boost confidence, improve mood, and strengthen mental wellbeing.

This month, we are encouraging our members to take small steps toward better health. Whether that means joining a class, having a chat with a friend, or taking a moment to focus on yourself, every effort matters. Movement is powerful, and so are the conversations that happen around it.

What’s Happening This Movember at Horizon

We have a full line-up of activities and events for Movember at Horizon designed to raise awareness and keep the conversation about men’s health going strong.

Fridays – The Wellbeing Hub
Why not come down to The Wellbeing Hub, based in the Meridian Centre in Havant, and take part in one of our low-impact circuit sessions in the morning. These sessions are a brilliant way to get moving at your own pace while supporting both physical and mental health. Do not forget, we also offer free health checks to help you stay on top of your wellbeing.

Wednesday 19 November – Step Class with the CEO
Join our CEO Mike Lyons for a high-energy step session at Havant from 10:30am for 45 minutes. It is a fun and supportive way to get moving, meet others, and support men’s health while doing something positive for yourself. Book HERE.

Tuesdays in November – Cardiac Rehab with George
George will be highlighting how exercise benefits both the heart and the mind during his regular cardiac rehab sessions at Havant. Members will be sharing their stories about why they attend and how staying active supports their wellbeing.

Wednesday 26 November – The Horizon Staff Run
Sam will be leading a special staff-run treadmill challenge at Havant between 12pm and 6pm. Throughout the afternoon, our team will take turns keeping the treadmill moving to raise awareness and encourage open conversation about men’s health.

Throughout November – Conversations That Matter
Across our group exercise classes, instructors and staff will be chatting with members about what fitness means to them and how it supports their mental health. These stories show the real impact of exercise and community, reminding us that everyone has their own reason to move and that every reason matters.
