A Guide to our Group Exercise Classes
Group exercise classes are a fantastic way to stay motivated, meet new people, and achieve your fitness goals. The social environment, combined with the guidance of experienced instructors, ensures you stay committed and have fun while working out. Here, is a brief overview of some of the classes that take place at Horizon.
Les Mills Classes
Les Mills classes are world renowned for their innovative and high energy group fitness experiences. Developed by fitness experts, these classes are designed to deliver results while keeping you motivated and engaged. Each class is choreographed to motivating music and new material is released every quarter. Here’s a closer look at what Les Mills classes we have to offer:
Body Combat:
This is a total body martial arts workout incorporating elements from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu. It is non-contact and a great way to release stress.
Body Attack:
Body Attack is a high energy class that combines running, lunging and jumping with push-ups and squats. This is a whole body workout that will improve your functional fitness.
Body Pump:
This is a barbell and weights class that uses low weights and high repetitions, designed to shape and tone your entire body.
Body Balance:
Body Balance is a new generation Yoga class that will improve your flexibility, increase core strength and will reduce stress levels.
GRIT:
This is a HIIT workout that rapidly improves strength and increases cardiovascular fitness.
Born to Move:
On our THRIVE programme, we have Les Mills Born to Move classes, suitable for those from age 2 to 16. It’s about moving to music and empowering young minds.
Spin Classes
In our cycle studio, in Havant, we offer a variety of spin classes suitable for all ages and abilities. Equipped with the latest technology and bikes, our spin studio provides an optimal cycling experience. Some of these classes are virtual, meaning that it is a fully immersive digital cycling experience that is not instructor led.
Gym Classes
We also hold classes in our gyms. Situated on the track in Havant, the upper gym floor at Waterlooville and the mezzanine in Guildford. These classes are adaptable and can suit a variety of fitness needs. We hold HIITS classes that last for 30 minutes and are designed to boost your fitness in a quick session. Alternatively, we run circuits classes such as our Low Impact Circuits class which targets the main muscle groups without the impact on your joints.
Yoga
Our yoga classes cater to all skill levels, from beginners taking their first step on the mat to seasoned practitioners looking to deepen their practice. With a serene environment and experienced instructors, we provide the perfect setting for you to explore and grow. Our Yoga classes include:
Yoga Flow:
This a dynamic Yoga class where you focus on connecting the movements with the rhythm of the breath rather than spending time in stationary poses.
Fitness Yoga:
This class focuses on the Yoga movements looking to improve flexibility and strength.
Hatha Yoga:
This Yoga class puts more of a focus on the mind and body connection, concentrating on breath work and meditation.
Men’s Only Yoga:
At Horizon Guildford, we host a men’s only yoga class. This is at entry level to provide men with an opportunity to improve their mobility, flexibility and help with injury recovery.
Pilates
Join our dedicated Pilates community here at Horizon which is an effective form of exercise aiming to rebalance the body in a slow and controlled approach.
Pilates for Life:
This is a Pilates concept that is exclusive to Horizon and follows the principles of Pilates, using flowing exercises to build strength. It uses weights and resistance bands providing an intense Pilates experience.
Swim Classes
We also hold exercise classes in our swimming pools. Such as Waterworks, which is a class choreographed to music using the water as resistance or support. There is also Aqua, which works in a similar way where you exercise to music.
The Latest Classes to Launch at Horizon
Step HIIT:
May saw the launch of our Step HIIT class! This class gets your heart rate high whilst you step in time to music using the smart step as your base. It’s fun and a great form of cardio.
Boxercise:
Boxercise is back at Horizon! It is an exercise concept based on the training methods used by boxers in a non-contact, safe but challenging environment. It is great for stress busting and suitable for all fitness levels.
Join our Group Exercise community and meet like minded individuals, adding a social aspect to your fitness journey. Working out in a group keeps you accountable and allows you to try new ways of exercising for an affordable price, or for free if you have a membership with us.
