Helping local children gain confidence, stay safe, and learn to swim – for just £10 per month
Horizon Leisure, in proud partnership with Portsmouth Water and Havant Borough Council, is offering 100 subsidised places for children aged 4–16 who are currently unable to swim. This six-month Learn to Swim programme is designed for families on a low income and living in and around the Havant Borough.
Our goal? To make swimming accessible, enjoyable, and build confidence for every child.

Eligibility Criteria:
To apply, your child must:
- Be aged 4 to 16
- Live in the Havant Borough
- Not currently enrolled in swimming lessons
You must also be receiving at least one of the following benefits:
• Income Support
• Employment Support Allowance
• Universal Credit
• Pension Credit
• Job Seeker’s Allowance
• Housing Benefit
• Disability Allowance
• Carer’s Allowance
• Residence Permit with RT number
• eVisa
• Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
What you need to know
You will be required to pay £60 in total for the six months of lessons. The first payment of £30 will be due upon booking the course, and the second instalment of £30 is due in October and will be added to your account for payment.
To find out if you are eligible, you must complete the form below. If your application is successful, you will be contacted and asked to book onto a course via our booking system.
You will be contacted in the order of your application.
You will have two weeks to secure your space and make your payment; otherwise, we may allocate your space to someone else.
Classes will start in the first week of September and will run until the first week of March 2026, with a two-week break at Christmas. Your child will have one lesson per week, totalling 25 lessons.
If you miss three consecutive weeks, we may remove your child from the course and allocate your space to another child. You will forfeit any payments made.
This membership is only available to new swimmers who have not been members of Horizon Swim School for a period of three months or more.
