Volunteer as a Representative for Horizon’s Customer Forums

As a local charity, Horizon Leisure Centres is committed to making improvements to its facilities and services, to benefit the health and wellbeing of the local community.

As part of a brand-new initiative, we are seeking to recruit up to 12 committed and passionate volunteers who will form part of Horizon’s Customer Forums.

What to expect at The Horizon Customer Forums

The group will meet informally on a quarterly basis to discuss a wide range of topics and we will use feedback to inform decision-making processes to improve facilities, services and experiences at Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres.

We are accepting applications from members and pay-as-you-go customers, so if you are interested in the health and wellbeing of Havant and Waterlooville communities and you are driven and enthusiastic to achieve the best outcomes for Horizon’s diverse customer groups, then we want to hear from you!

We are actively recruiting representatives with diverse backgrounds and experiences who feel confident to share their opinions and viewpoints on a range of discussion themes, both positively and constructively.

The discussion themes may include, but are not limited to:

  • Planned projects relating to expansion/development plans
  • Horizon’s gym, swim and group exercise offering
  • Horizon’s retail and hospitality offering
  • Customer service and customer engagement projects
  • Community outreach and engagement projects
  • Accessibility and inclusivity of our centres/service offerings

What you can expect as a volunteer

While we appreciate our customers lead busy lives outside of Horizon, we would expect participants of the Customer Forum to be able to attend most meetings, with prior notice given if you are unable to attend.

There are some considerations you will need to bear in mind, before you start your application, as follows:

  • Volunteers will meet on a quarterly basis on a weekday (not weekends).

  • The sessions will last between 1.5hrs – 2 hours.
  • We will always try to arrange face-to-face meetings, though sometimes, we may need to arrange a video call using Microsoft Teams.
  • The sessions will run during the day and the early evening (please state your meeting preferences as part of your application form).
  • Light refreshments will be available.
  • Meetings will alternate between Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres and you will be expected to arrange your own travel (free parking can be arranged at both centres).
  • Participants will meet on a voluntary basis; however, vouchers will be offered to participants who attend all four forums.
