Work Experience and Work Placements

Horizon Leisure Centres is pleased to be able to work closely with Havant Job Centre to support their Work Experience initiative. The aim is to offer voluntary work placement opportunities that are specifically designed to help claimants with little or no recent work history; gain meaningful work experience, meet new people, enhance their CV and improve their job prospects. There is also a possibility of being offered a permanent job at the end of the placement!

Horizon Leisure Centres working in partnership with South Downs College offer the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and develop professional skills, while earning a salary. If you are leaving school at 16, have been to college and are looking for an alternative to university or just looking for a new career, we can offer high quality professional training and an opportunity to gain experience in a great team.

We offer a range of Qualifications in conjunction with South Downs College and can discuss your requirements throughout your employment. Training is carried out on the job and experienced and professional assessors will guide you through the required modules.

Training can be offered in, but is not limited to:

L2 Diploma in team leading

L2 / L3 Customer service

L2 Food and beverage services

L2 Leisure operations

NPLQ Training is also available: Become qualified to work in any UK swimming pool as a Lifeguard during this one week intensive course. Courses are run at both Havant and Waterlooville sites. The NPLQ is the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and is a great step into working in the leisure industry. The course comprises of practical and theory work and gives you the skills that could save someone’s life.
