Gym Etiquette
Respect the space. A better gym for everyone.
Filming in our gyms
We want everyone to feel comfortable when using our gyms. Please familiarise yourself with our guidelines.
Gym etiquette at Horizon
Whether you’re fitting in a quick workout, working towards a new goal or simply enjoying some time to yourself, our gyms are shared by lots of people every day.
Good gym etiquette is about the little things we can all do to make the space better for the person training next to us and the person coming in after us.
TRAIN RIGHT
Wear suitable training footwear and clothing.
RESET
Return weights and equipment after use.
WIPE DOWN
Leave equipment clean and ready for the next person.
KEEP IT CLEAR
Bags belong on the shelves or in lockers.
CHALK-FREE
Please don’t use chalk.
RESPECT EACH OTHER
Be considerate of everyone using the gym.
FILM WITH CARE.
Mobile phones can be used with consideration of others in the gym.

A shared space
Everyone trains differently. Some people are experienced gym users, while others might be stepping into a gym for the first time.
Being considerate of the people around you helps us create a gym where everyone can feel comfortable getting on with their workout.
That means giving people the space they need to train, being mindful when the gym is busy and leaving equipment ready for whoever uses it next.
Reset for the next person
Finished with your weights or equipment? Returning everything to where it belongs keeps the gym organised, helps other members find what they need and keeps the floor clear.
The same goes for benches and machines. A quick wipe after use means they’re clean and ready for the next person.
At our cleaning stations, one wipe is all you need.

New to the gym?
Gym etiquette shouldn’t make the gym feel intimidating.
If you’re unsure where something belongs, how to use a piece of equipment or simply need some help getting started, speak to a member of our gym team.
We’re here to help you feel comfortable and confident in the gym.
Respect everyone’s privacy
Photos, videos and livestreams are welcome as long as they don’t impact other people using the gym. Please make sure you have permission before filming or photographing other members, and keep cameras and equipment from blocking walkways or disrupting someone else’s workout.
Photography, filming and video calls are not permitted in changing areas. If a member of staff or another member asks you to stop filming, please respect their request.
Train well. Share well.
A better gym doesn’t come down to one person. It’s created by everyone who uses it. A little consideration goes a long way, so respect the space, reset when you’re finished and leave things ready for whoever comes next.
Thank you for helping us make our gyms better for everyone.
