Celebrate National Fitness Day 2026 at Horizon
Written by Abigael Wilson
On Wednesday 16 September, communities across the country will come together for National Fitness Day 2026, celebrating the many different ways movement can be part of our lives.
At Horizon, we’re joining the celebration across Horizon Havant, Horizon Waterlooville and Horizon Guildford, with free activities and opportunities to get moving throughout the day.
For one person, being active might mean an early morning gym session before work. For someone else, it’s a swim, a class with familiar faces, trying something completely new or simply finding an activity they genuinely enjoy.
Particular activities are free to take part in for National Fitness Day, but spaces are limited and sessions must be booked in advance. Please make sure you have a confirmed booking before attending your chosen class or activity.
What is National Fitness Day?
National Fitness Day is an annual celebration of physical activity and an opportunity to recognise the positive role movement can play in our health, happiness and communities.
It isn’t about being the fastest, strongest or fittest person in the room. It’s about celebrating all the different ways we can move and encouraging more people to find something they enjoy.
This year, we’ll be celebrating across Horizon Havant, Horizon Waterlooville and Horizon Guildford, with opportunities to get involved throughout the day.
We’re taking it back to the 90s
We couldn’t celebrate a day dedicated to movement without having a little fun with it. For National Fitness Day 2026, Horizon is taking inspiration from 90s Sporting Heroes.
It was a decade packed with unforgettable sporting moments, huge personalities and plenty of inspiration to get moving. We’ll be bringing some of that 90s energy into our centres while celebrating the sporting heroes, past and present, who inspire us.
So if a little 90s style happens to make its way into your workout on the day, you’ll be in good company. There’ll be plenty happening across our three centres throughout the day, with gym sessions, exercise classes and swimming all giving our communities different ways to get involved.

Horizon Havant
There’s a packed programme at Havant running from early morning into the evening, including classes such as Body Pump, Body Balance, Pilates, HYROX, cycling and more, alongside public swimming.
There’s plenty for families to get involved with too, including Toddler Bounce from 9:30–11:00am, while our Smoothie Bike will be making an appearance during the day.
Members can also take on our gym challenge and get involved with activities in the crèche.
Please ensure you book all activities online or via the app to secure a slot.

Horizon Waterlooville
At Waterlooville, you can choose from a full day of activities including Pilates, Body Pump, Body Combat, Horizon Strength, Aqua Fit, Yoga Flow, Zumba Step and more, alongside public swimming.
Younger members can also get involved with our THRIVE Dodgeball Club from 4:00–5:20pm.
There’ll also be a gym challenge and crèche activities to get involved with throughout the day.
Please ensure you book all activities online or via the app to secure a slot.

Horizon Guildford
Guildford is getting Powered by You too, with a full programme of free exercise classes running throughout the day.
Choose from Strength Circuit Class, Core Control, Aqua, Les Mills Shapes, Men’s Mobility, Group Cycle, Circuits, Body Balance and more.
With sessions running from early morning into the evening, there are plenty of opportunities to try something different and get involved in National Fitness Day.
Please ensure you book all activities online or via the app to secure a slot.
However you move, make it yours
The best thing about being active is that it can look completely different from one person to the next.
You don’t have to love running. You don’t have to lift weights. You don’t have to be brilliant at a sport. What matters is finding something you enjoy and something that works for you.
And sometimes, trying something different is how you find it.
So this National Fitness Day, whether you’re joining us at Havant, Waterlooville or Guildford, choose your activity, bring some 90s energy and celebrate the way that movement makes you feel.
Wednesday 16 September. Three Horizon centres. One National Fitness Day. Powered by You.
