Bike 4 The Bank: Community Impact

Written by Abigael Wilson

In partnership with Beacon Food Bank, our Bike 4 The Bank event was a fantastic success, bringing the community together for a day of health, wellbeing, and giving back.

The event took place on Friday 31st July at Meridian Shopping Centre, as part of our wider Horizon Wellbeing Hub activities that day.

Pedal Power for a Good Cause

Thanks to the power of our Horizon Leisure Trust Smoothie Bike, we made 42 tropical smoothies, raising £73.00 for the Food Bank. It was amazing to see the excitement from children and adults alike as they pedalled their way to a delicious smoothie. One family enjoyed the experience so much that they came back for a second turn!

What Else We Got Up To

Throughout the event, we also:

  • Spoke to 51 families about our Summer THRIVE-ing Programme and other opportunities available at Horizon
  • Introduced 10 people to our Health & Wellbeing Hub through Health Referrals, our Foundations Programme, and community classes
  • Received 22 donated food and hygiene items for the Beacon Food Bank
  • Delivered 3 free taster sessions, including Men’s Circuits, Ladies’ Circuits, and Ultra Violet Dodgeball

Thank You

A huge thank you to Michael Whitelock, Abigail Calder, Lauren McAuley (CYP Coach), Natalie from Beacon Food Bank, Future Water, Cheryl Bartlett, and everyone who attended, donated, took part, and helped make the event such a positive success.

It was inspiring to see our community embracing healthy activities while supporting a great cause. Together, we made a real difference.
