Summer Loving: 6 Ways to Make the Most of Summer at Horizon
Written by Abigael Wilson
Summer means different things to different people.
For some, it’s getting away on holiday. For others, it’s finding ways to keep the kids entertained, catching up with friends or finally having a little more time for themselves. Whatever your summer looks like, Horizon is here for it.
Whether you’re squeezing in a workout before heading to the beach, cooling off in the pool on a warm afternoon or trying something completely new, our centres are packed with opportunities to make the most of the season.
1. Take On a New Challenge
Summer is the perfect time to mix things up. If you’ve been looking for something to work towards, why not get involved in our July Gym Challenge? This month, members are testing their endurance with the Wall Sit Challenge, competing for a place at the top of the leaderboard. Or perhaps you’ve been curious about HYROX. Horizon Havant is home to official HYROX classes designed to help you build strength, fitness and confidence, whether you’re training for an event or simply looking for a fresh challenge. Sometimes all it takes is trying something different.
2. Make a Splash
No British summer is complete without a trip to the pool. Whether you’re fitting in a lane swim before work, bringing the family for a public swim session or watching your child progress through Swim School, our pools are at the heart of summer at Horizon. If you’ve got friends who have been thinking about swimming lessons, don’t forget our Refer a Friend to Swim School offer. Refer a friend before 31 July and when they join, you’ll both receive a FREE month of lessons.

3. Keep the Kids Busy (Without Breaking the Bank)
Let’s be honest. Six weeks is a long time to fill.
That’s why we’ve created our Summer THRIVE-ing programme, packed with activities to keep children active, entertained and making memories throughout the holidays.
From Family Floats and Dodgeball to Scooter Club and Non-Contact Boxing, there’s something for every age group.
Even better, from 27 July to 31 August, every Summer THRIVE-ing activity is just £2 per session.
Because keeping the kids busy shouldn’t cost a fortune.

6. Find Something New for Teenagers
We’re incredibly proud to have launched our brand-new THRIVE Youth Hub this summer.
Created for young people aged 12–17, the hub provides a safe, welcoming space to socialise, play games, take part in activities and build confidence.
It’s already growing week by week and becoming a fantastic addition to our community offer.
5. Discover Your New Favourite Class
The longer days often give us the chance to try things we’d normally put off. With hundreds of classes taking place every week across our centres, summer is the perfect time to step outside your comfort zone and see what you enjoy. You never know what might become part of your routine.
6. Enjoy Time Together
Some of the best moments at Horizon aren’t about fitness at all. They’re about spending time with people. A family swim on a rainy afternoon. Meeting friends for a class. Watching your child conquer the inflatable for the first time. Catching up over a coffee after a workout. Summer is busy, but it’s also a chance to slow down and enjoy those moments together.
Whatever Your Summer Looks Like…
Whether you’re taking on the Gym Challenge, bringing the kids to Summer THRIVE-ing, learning to swim, training for HYROX or simply finding more time to move, Horizon is here to help you make the most of every moment.
Stay active. Stay social. Stay Summer Loving.
